Ice Bear - The Polar Bear in an Arctic storm.
Art story: Suri the Polar Bear roams the sea ice at the top of the world. Through blasting arctic winds and mounds of snow, she seeks food and shelter for her young.
She is powerful, persistent, and nurturing; but even she cannot stop the ice from shrinking.
The Painting: All my original art paintings are created using professional acrylic paints and lightfast acrylic inks. Once finished, paintings are sealed with three coats of Liquitex Professional satin varnish.
On the reverse of the painting, I write a message around the edge of the frame. This message comes to me in the moment, is connected to the piece of art I have completed and is a message of encouragement or hope for the buyer. These are secret messages and can only be viewed (prior to purchase) within my online shop.
Art inspirations: While the population of the Polar bear is still sizable by the ICUN red list standards, our rapidly warming climate has forced this species to be recognised as VULNERABLE.
These beautiful bears are becoming the victims of human occupation as they are forced to find new homes away from the dwindling pack ice.
After watching several documentaries regarding Polar bears and their plight, I chose to name this painting ‘ICE’ bear, for that is their natural environment, and it is our fault they need to adapt.
Fact: Unless we radically change our ways, the Arctic sea-ice will be completely gone during the summer months, by 2040?
Threats to species: Climate change, oil and gas exploration, human bear conflict, pollution.
Animal symbolism: Rising from the world of ice, the polar bear is a symbol of independence and resilience.
Weather symbolism: While the wind pulls and ravages, Winter signifies a time to go within, hibernate, to nurture and gather strength ready for Spring. Snow quietens the Earth creating a sense of peace; being crystalised water is linked to purity, and white (of the snow) is associated with innocence.

Original Art MUST NOT be cleaned with any cleaning
products. Lightly dust with a clean, dry duster only.
Dropping or repeated bumps to the canvas board or paper, will damage the integrity of the stock and / or art surface.
While every effort is made to use top quality and lightfast art mediums and stock, bright
sunlight and harsh persistent lighting could start to fade the colour of the artwork over an
extended amount of time.
Constant extremes of heat or cold could also impact the integrity of the art. Although the Original Art has been coated with a UV protective varnish; it is strongly recommended that the artwork be professionally framed using a UV reducing and low reflection glass, to further protect the artwork and be able to view unhindered from all vantage points.
